I don't feel comfortable using dude. It doesn't feel right. I'm basically gonna alter how I communicate in general. I'm gonna try to cut back on all slang words and phrases.

A shift among blacks is occurring. Makes me happy to see threads like this. I never really said it but i was always indifferent about it. Now im at a point of "awareness" where i find it absolutely disgusting that we call ourselves that. Im on the "my brotha" wave.

I had to evaluate why I always used it in the first place and it basically boiled down to either dumbing down my convo to adapt to whoever I was talking to or simply being lazy with the vocabulary usually brought upon by high emotional charged events.

It's not just about the word itself than it is communicating and being able to articulate words in general. I and many others do it subconsciously with out even realizing it. To me it's about putting thought to words and have self discipline. I'm starting now because of Ramadan and at the end of the day I'm too old to be sounding ignorant. The music we listen to embeds the word into our brains. It's sad but once you go outside of your self to evaluate your behavior, you realize how stupid you look and sound.
