I had to evaluate why I always used it in the first place and it basically boiled down to either dumbing down my convo to adapt to whoever I was talking to or simply being lazy with the vocabulary usually brought upon by high emotional charged events.

I don't feel comfortable using dude. It doesn't feel right. I'm basically gonna alter how I communicate in general. I'm gonna try to cut back on all slang words and phrases.

That's the difference, it not about finding an alternative word, its about changing the way you would of said the the whole sentence to communicate still.

It stopped being a 'term of endearment' years ago..at any adult still singing that lame excuse.

And these unconscious young brehs aren't taking the power of the word away by using it..they dont even know what that means.
