How you "outgrow" hip-hop?!? Lyrical maturity and musical substance are NOT the same thing. Great music can have lyrics about taking a shyt if it's done right. I feel like cats get caught up trying to analyze the music but really if you're a music head listen to the lyrics like it's a language you don't know and see how it is. A dope rapper sounds dope to people across the world based on flow, rhythm, delivery, synergy with the beat/production. Music is for your heart and lyrics for the brain.

Over time I've learned that the different styles of rap has it's place.

Trap music/Ignorant/Materialistic rap about money/bytches and so on is pretty much good as party music. Sure I wouldn't listen to that when I'm reading or something, but I would appreciate it off of the strength of girls doing their thing in the club, hence allowing me to my thing. :shaq:

The more lyrical and artistic rappers like Kendrick/Nas/Blu I would bump when I'm on the bus or walking or something or when I'm doing work as a student to keep me focused on what I'm doing. Or when I just want something that has good beats, lyrics and is a nice demonstration of the Hip-Hop artform.

But I can't see myself outgrowing something as diverse, rich in history and dope as Hip Hop. Sure the mainstream dudes have short shelf-life, but then I can always go to the more obscure and lyrical rappers that are indie underground.

There's just way, way, waaaaaay too much piff (Older stuff that I haven't heard yet, dope rappers that I've never heard of) for me to abandon the genre altogether, regardless what people say.

I think what the OP is saying is that even if you don't fucck with what's going on as far as mainstream goes you're still always gonna have that hip-hop that you love...I think he's talking on people who completely abandon the genre like it's all some trash shhit

This is what we're talking about.
I feel like this describes most of the friends I grew up with. Nothing wrong with expanding/refining your interests, but to completely disregard your past is something I could never do.

Nothing has interested me since I heard Jay Electronica's Exhibit singles and Vado's Large in the Street

Don't care for any new rap

Couldn't name a Kendrick Lamar single tbh

Just listen to the 90s rap I grew up on

There is a lot of violence at rock concerts. That shyt is called a mosh pit. If people get beat the fukk up at a rock concert nobody even notices.

Fred.

We gonna act like Limp Bizkit didnt cause a huge riot at woodstock and pretty much ended Woodstock

people are too unknowledgeable about other genres, and think hip hop is where all the problems are...and all the ills of hip hop are exclusive to it, and it only.

but that shyt was :krs: at how the crowd went apeshyt and started fukking shyt up.

These rap concerts are so damn small time, compared to other genres, when it comes to shyt getting out of control.

I remember a Rolling Stone article talking about....I think it was Lollapalooza, I dunno....maybe 10+ years ago....anyway, the crowd went berserk because the price of food and water was too high....started jacking the food stands, beating people up, destroying the stages....I'm talking "28 Days Later" type shyt.

The only reason I remember this, is because security went to Moby's tent to tell him to evacuate, and dude was DJing like :ld: while 10 girls were on the floor eating each other out. :whoo:

This actually added to the popularity of Limp Bizkit, they were the ultimate white suburban " i'm angry for no reason, other than that i can be" teenage angst group.

i remember seeing the fires and shyt on tv, and was :gladbron:

i know y'all saw them titties tho

:heh: at outgrowing Hip Hop but listening to Rock :dead:

Some performer in Rock was throwing mic stands into the crowd and injured one of his fans, causing the fan to sue :snoop:

Seems pretty childish to me, I never heard of something like that happening at a Hip Hop concert. :ehh:

Plus, Pac, Nas, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Cube, Lupe all make mature Hip Hop music where if you're a older guy you won't look "silly" listening to it.

ever heard of Pink Floyd nikka?

How the fukk does someone "outgrow hip-hop"

If you consider yourself a fan or head you can't outgrow this shyt. You might try an fit in once in a while but you know who you really are on the inside. :scusthov: people really trading in the GOAT music genre for fukking euro faq trash music fukk a dubstep :skip:

If anything I think I've outgrown caring about what people are currently listening too. The current wave of techno/whateverthefukkcactrashyouwannacallit music thats flooded urban radio is disappointing. I'm trying to hear what's hot today and it's a bunch of thumping and a whole lot of nothing.

Hip-Hop, RnB, Soul, Funk, and Jazz are the GOAT genres and nothing can even come close no matter how hard they try.

Uh....is this a serious question? Because they don't make music for children. All 3 groups have songs with social commentary and/or that deal with issues that are still relevant, no matter what year you listen to them in.
