Iverson was a monster in his prime which is more impressive because of his stature. Philly never gave him the right supporting cast to maximize his abilities. Philly was a defensive team but never gave AI the offensive players to help spread the floor and help shoulder the load. Probably the greatest ball player I ever seen at intercepting passes, had unstoppable quickness. Excellent handles, and body control. A trend setter. Was tough as nails, and an incredible streak shooter. The only knock on AI should be his FG percentage. THATS IT.

Sad he had to face the Dynasty Lakers in his only finals.

:to:

lets see:

-never gave him the right supporting cast to maximize his abilities.

What player doesnt need that?

Philly was a defensive team but never gave AI the offensive players to help spread the floor and help shoulder the load.

Again, what player doesnt need that?

The only knock on AI should be his FG percentage

That's a huge knock, please dont write this off. Since all you coli members like playing the IF game: any SG or SF in the league can put up Iverson-numbers witht he green light and amount of shots they can take. His MVP season 31 pts a game 41% shooting :mindblown:

He was a terrible scorer, period

He played on horrible offensive teams in philly which asked him to shoulder the load offensively. He was often doubled and triple teamed and at his height made scoring efficiently difficult. He could score all over the court as the smallest guy on the floor. He played through countless injuries And he couldn't be stopped once he caught fire. Can't understand how you call him a TERRIBLE scorer when he used to light the score boards up.

yes he would light up scoreboards, and he took ALOT of shots doing so, luckily his team was defensive enough to counteract his gunning by holding the other team to shoot low also. Like I said, any half wit SG or SF can shoot like that with the green light AI had. So I guess any guy can chuck up 25 shots a game, and miss. But hey as long as he hits 10 of them and yet has 35 points he's a beast right.

nikkas (or presumably majority white boys) bringing up wikipedia stats like DPOY, Coach of the Year and 6th man of the year like that really means Iverson had decent support on offense. Iverson was the offense in Philly after Stackhouse left and Larry Hughes and Tim Thomas turned into flops. Being the whole offense at 6 feet tall, yeah it's going to be tough to shoot at a high % consistently.
I'd like to see the stats on how many times Iverson did create scoring opportunities for the likes of Eric Snow, Aaron Mckie, Matt Geiger, Todd MacCollough, etc...and they shot up bricks or blew 4 foot buckets. Because I actually watched the teams and saw it happen often

And "Thinking Kobe better than JOrdan" being used as strawman :heh: I've already admitted that Kobe put a limit on how great he could be by choosing to become a replica rather than creating his own lane :yeshrug:
