While true...
I just feel that great music speaks for itself, without the crutch of other medium devices to get a point/message across

I'm from an era where the visuals were vital to the roll out and perception of an album...just because "music television" barely plays music anymore doesn't mean that element of the game completely disappears.

Rappers should be doing "visual albums" just like everybody else. But nobody really respects rap...they like to listen to it but they don't respect it.

It's got some nice highs and ends with one of Cole's best songs but I feel like the lows really mar it. I get that he doesn't want features...so why not use uncredited singers more?

I haven't really felt a need to revisit it lately but will soon.
Breh I've been askin this to nikkas who :cape:for his non singing ass since Boring Sinner came out. I understand dude's tryna give you his raw emotion or whatever, but at some point you just need to make it sound good. I'm sure Roc Nation has the funds for it

One thing I can now say is that the title track "4 Your Eyez Only" is one of the best songs I've ever heard period. It's so beautifully crafted and potent. The melody and baseline is just orgasmic. One of the few songs that really touches me on some emotional shyt.

so its been twice now ive listened to this album on the commute to work this week--yea, im late. and i must say i think this is his best album. some of production here is truly beautiful. as someone whose been very critical of he as an artist and his past releases, i feel like this is an album by an artist worthy of the praise hes gotten for years.

someone upped the thread and i just watched the special for the first time in 2 weeks and it's still just as powerful. the end especially.

i get the criticism of the album still, but i think it will resonate better for cole fans if you've ever been a parent or lost one.

subject matter definitely isnt for everyone.

Born Sinner and the one after that were amazing, so were the TRULY YOURS series.

This, however, is just lackluster as fukk. I played it twice since it came out and don't think I'll go back until Cole drops a new one and I want to catch up.

I disagree. This is my favorite project by him. Simple and consistent.

Honestly, he embraced the NyQuil on this one. Perfect bed time Album lol
