I'm sure everybody's heard/read all the theories about the concept, but I think people are missing the point. Yes, the album's ultimate concept/idea is Cole rapping through the eyes of his street dude friend who falls in love and gives birth to a daughter, and gets jammed up before he can see her grow up. But the point of the concept is to explore what it means to be human from the perspective of someone who never has been treated like one, be it from the government, their parents, their environments, their employers, and the people around them (such as the neighbors). This is why Cole's rapping in a monotone ass voice and there's not much joy and delight on the album. This is not an album that's gonna pull you out of depression like Cole's music typically does, its probably gonna be one that pulls you back in.
Y'all are insane
not groundbreaking but a decent addition to the catalogue
