Listening now...

I just want to say certain samples, remakes arent to ever be touched again.. Electric Relaxation is one.. You cant do it better. You cant make it equal..just dont attempt it.

But going thru these posts, why so much hate for dude? He's on parr with most of the shyt yall say good on this board... I mean he aint terrible by any means.. Not quite my cup of tea, but he ok

His music is just boring to me :manny:

I mean, what makes him standout more over the next rapper? Even Fab's wack ass music is more energetic.

This whole album is heavily influenced by Biggie, Pac, Jay, NaS and Ye'. The reason these young lions are stuck in that shadow cause they aren't dropping Classic music. Drake has the hit songs but no Classic album. J Cole, Wale, Meek are the same. Kendrick debut is getting early "Classic" love but only time will really tell it's impact. Cole recently said that him and his peers need to not feel they can't do better than the greats from the 90's. But listening to "Born Sinner" only reaffirmed to me that the 90's era was so great, so influential that it litterally has had a reverse effect and handicapped many of the young rappers trying to live up to that legacy.

Big, Pac, Jay, NaS and Ye's music have aged like fine wine. Ye as of today to me is the only rapper from this era that will be mentioned with the Greats. "College Dropout" could be argued as the last true Classic album in Hip Hop that can be mentioned with some of the Greats. At the end of the day, off 1st listen I enjoyed "Born Sinner" more than "Sideline Story" so Cole is improving. But he and other emcees will never get out of the shadows of the greats until they make something GREAT. This album all in all sounded like Cole begging the Rap Gods for acceptance instead of just dropping a Classic album. I give it 4 MICS off 1st listen. Still letting it digest but I like what I hear.

Sounds more like you're stuck in the 90's :bronpls:

And Nicca CD is Kanye's WORST album... that says a lot about the Gawd Yeezus tho :blessed:

To talk about the album, Born Sinner is what most of us Cole fans wanted Cole Summer to be, great production, with real ass lyrics from King Cole saluting Compton's own :obama:

I don't know what it is, but it seems like Cole's lyrical ability has regressed since he's popped up on the scene.

The Warm Up
Friday Night Lights

Were both better lyrically than his retail albums. I only played this once. It's a decent album, not sure if the content will hold my attention as far as replay value goes.

The album had Biggie songs and lyrics, Jay Lyrics, Ye Lyrics, Called Pac Jesus, Outkast samples, Tribe Samples and a NaS dedication. If anyone is stuck in the 90's it Cole. LOL @ "College Dropout" being Kanye's worst. That's why it's still his highest selling album and the album that all dudes were influenced by including Cole. No Ye' album had more impact than his debut.

This is my first time listening to a J. Cole project.

It's ok, I liked 'Let Nas Down', 'Power Trip', and a couple others sounded good.

I remember hearing him on Wale's first album, dude killed that shyt.

Never Told
Breakdown

I really can't follow this album :pachaha::skip:

These songs are on topic too.

I like this album, but i prefer Cole world even though the production is better on this one
