A push back isn't the end of the world. Hell it's actually a good thing the label wants him to get as much of a push as possible instead of just throwing it out there. He'll be fine, he's a proven artist with proven commercial success.

If I'm not mistaken wasn't he touring the better part of this year? That's like asking why Drake hasn't dropped any new music, he's been TOURING and (presumably) working on the new album.

The touring argument is wack. Drake has MUSIC (all features that hes killed) out AND was touring the top half of last year.

These dudes act like they are new to how the business works.
1st release date is just to let cats know that an album is coming.

There is still a few steps until an official release date..
The only album that I can remember of recent memory released on a major album that just came out after one initial release date GKMC and that was pushed back by a month. He did however announce it about one year before it was released.

I think just announcing an album is better than announcing a date, Cole did however say that he wanted to released it in Q1 but knew it wasn't gonna happen.

These dudes basically saved rap and pioneered the new school. Pioneers are still being made though like Kendrick who commercially took it to a level where cats expected Cole to take it based on his mixtape shyt.
