What you mean “got at Hov”? nikka was featured on the song and his verse had nothing to do with Hov and then he was taken on the Blueprint 3 tour. Lmao. You really bought into Cole being mad about not getting a release date because he didn’t have a big single even though every rapper that got released in that era had a big lead single. Literally all of them. His complaints were never rational and all emotion.

nikka, did you just stupidly say I cannot be serious and then name people like Kendrick who
I named? Did you every read my post or did you want to dikkride Cole so much it made you temporarily illiterate? The running joke was explained pretty clearly in my post as because he didn’t produce a big single. What the fukk does a Gaga feature mean to a hip hop audience compared to being out on a Beyonce single, the BP3 Tour, the Blueprint 3 itself and getting hailed as the only rapper on Roc Nation? Jay Z literally made Cole go learn from the dudes who wrote Rihanna and Ne-Yo hits. You nikkas took that Forest Hills Drive documentary too seriously. Jay just didn’t walk around with him like Ye with Sean and Drake with Weezy. That’s literally it. Sean was crying about Ye neglecting him too.
You said Cole had a bigger push than all them dudes, which is why I said you cannot be serious. That's 🧢

nikka grew locs and stopped wearing designer clothes and now he's supposed to be this vanguard for conscious rap. Dude is boring and don't be saying anything.

Jada
Cole
Fab
Cam

That's my order
Good list I have jada as my definitive 1 out of the 4 aswell the rest is in different order but at the end of the day none of these guys are average or even kinda nice these are all elite emcees at there peak potential but that’s what makes it debatable we’re all diff ages and certain songs/albums connect with us in different ways

I'll ask you this, Ross dropped the mixtape Rich 4ever and The Black Dollar.

Does J.Cole have a project in his toolbox seeing those 2 mixtapes? I'm not talking about Ross's album, many would say Ross's albums are better, but is there anything in J.Cole's toolbox seeing those two Ross mixtapes.

Ross & Jada are in the same boat when it comes to bars.

Oil Money is a prime example

Absolutely not. But Ross is in my top 5 and well above everyone listed.

Another crack head
Cam, fab or kiss can match ross musically. Or even come close if we being truly honestly

Ross never cared to do what they did. That was a nyc thing. Trying to drop a bunch of punches.

Instead he worried bout making albums and it’s why he will be ranked above all.

Nobody gives a fukk about fab mixtapes or kids tapes out the tri state

Came made good albums tho

He needs to go deeper with it like Kendrick does. He also needs to make sure he isnt sacrificing entertainment value just to get a message across in a song.

Cole has done it before, but a lot of his shyt is really on-the-nose and surface level Twitter consciousness. Its the same reason dudes like Logic, Russ, Joynar Lucas are perceived as corny. Its like they go in the studio and say "I'm going to make a song about x topic" and then they rap the most basic obvious viewpoints on that topic, usually without much of their own experience. Theres hardly any depth or sophistication, and then casual listeners go "at least hes not rapping about sex / drugs / drilling opps" like dude said some enlightened shyt when it was really some common sense lol.

Like look at his biggest album. He has a song about losing his virginity (which was some weird shyt cause he told a contradicting story before on "Too Deep For The Intro"). He has a song about appreciating his mother. He has a song about loving yourself. None of these songs had any real depth and sophistication. They were all pretty surface level, cheap and gimmicky.

You see this shyt all over KOD too. Here's the song about drugs. Here's the song about money. Here's the song about vanity. Here's the song about x y z.
Kendrick goes deep and people still penalize him for not being 92 Cube hurling epithets at white folks and dreaming of unloading AKs on them, and/or being artsy-fartsy safe hipster rap.

The other thing is Cole never came out wishing to carry the conscious rapper torch, this was given to him and now he's being asked by folks like y'all to embody a standard. He's about as everyman as it gets, and the average dude may be aware of certain things but don't have enough conviction towards it to force others attention on it. Cole is that.

Funny enough nobody penalizes the other subjects of this thread for not talking about much.

How is Kendrick deeper?

A song like “brackets” pointing out tax allocation being put into gun manufacturers through defense bills or cop budget increases and those same guns ending up in our community is not deep? Or what about a song like “high for hours”calling out this country hypocrisy in foreign affairs? His response to Noname calling him out was at least thought provoking unlike Kendrick on “Savior”.
