JCOLE 4YEO: 2nd biggest drop-off of a #1 Album in its second week Of all time. Down 82%

The real question is will this project have legs. 4YEO holds the record for biggest 2nd week drop off in music history.

What happens when the new Cole smell wears off of KOD

This is a great point. I do think this album has more mainstream viability than 4YEO. It also has more tracks. I'd say this album has gained more general attention than the previous one did, which means more streams. 4YEO seemed like an insular project only his fans gravitated to initially, and even they didn't listen to it for long. That's not a diss to the album, I just don't think it connected.

I don't think there are multiple hit records on this thing, which will hurt streams in the coming weeks. DAMN and Culture I-II sold well forever because of the hits, and of course they were generally well liked albums by fans and non-fans. Whether this KOD album continues to get spins beyond Cole's fanbase over the next few weeks remains to be seen.

Cole had no reason to keep Deja Vu' on the album(other than laziness) after he saw how well Exchange did the year before and how much better Exchange was,He should've known a performance below that one on the same beat wasn't going to gain traction.

If he replaced that song for a better radio song then 4YEO may have performed differently in the streaming era

The numbers are pretty transparent. Really the only thing that strikes me as ducktales are single sales applying to total album sales. But luckily at least those aren't applied to first week album sales. For instance, Cardi B's album sold 200k first week...but is already considered gold because the sales from Bodak Yellow would get her to 500k. So she'll get a plaque even if she never reaches 500k off album streams. That's wack and needs to be changed. Let singles be singles, and albums be albums.

Yo this cheating the game:dead:

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
Can't be true.

4YEO basically did 500k first week, and KOD's breaking all these streaming records on Spotify and Apple Music... how is it projected lower than his last album?

:what:
:jbhmm:
no streaming fukkery like most people

take a drake, cardi, 69, etc... they release a hot single, maybe 5.. those get streaming numbers for months. then they place those same singles on the album... when it drops, all those singles count towards the albums, plus the album streams, plus physical

since cole didn't release anything until the album came out, he has no months of streams to add to sales... plus no promotion until the week of....

damn near 400k for an album with no singles and announced last week.... fukking amazing

Kendrick And J Cole are the two biggest rappers in the world.

I don’t include Drake in this category because he doesnt write his own shyt. Drake however is one of the biggest pops stars in the world.
