:yeshrug:I dunno, I'm just saying Cam's previous albums prior to signing to Rocafella didn't even go anywhere near what he sold with Jay, so I don't know how you think that had nothing to do with it. He's got a platinum and gold plaque from Rocafella with his 2 albums he dropped on that label.

First of all :stopitslime:

Camron's 1st album is gold, with a hit single. He was already a hot artist with a lot of potential, but he had image problems & lacked artistic direction.

Camron found some artistic direction on SDE, but the album wasn't marketable. There are a lot of dope songs on there, but his sound and image felt too Ruff Ryders influenced. He may have made a concerted effort to get away from the type of stuff Mase was doing, but it limited Cam's appeal. To be fair to Cam, certain parts of Harlem weren't on the flashy shyt around that time. And still spent a lot of time in the hood. But that's not what the world wanted to see. If you are presenting yourself as that guy in Harlem, you need to look like you could walk up and down 125th street and stop traffic.

Third time around, he starts to really tap into that real flashy obnoxious Harlem essence. He had the image makeover. He ditched the choppy Ruff Ryder-ish flow for something more colorful & playful. And once again, if we are to give credit to anyone THIS guy was a heavy influence, as he was Cam's labelmate on Epic.

Ghost had that ridiculously flashy image. Ghost had those colorful, playful references in his rhymes, and it didn't diminish his respect on the streets. Everyone thought Ghost was super tough, but he didn't have to style himself as a street dude. He was more of a superhero. When he was able to pull that off, it changed the game for a few artists.

Cam was reportedly livid that Epic couldn't push "Supreme Clientele" to platinum, and fought his way off of the label.

So then Cam reconnects with Dame, and the pieces all fall into place. Maybe Dame can also be credited somewhat with the image makeover, because Dame was all about popping tags. We can even give JR Writer himself more credit for Cam's success than Jay-Z. There are songs where Cam utilized JR's flow in the same fashion as Jay did with Young Chris.

It's not a diss to Jay-Z to say that he really didn't have much to with Cam's success. It's reality. Rocafella was run by 3 people, Cam had REAL relationships with the other 2.

this that old Writer interview from when he was still in his feelings that got took down and been put back up again ?

Biggs all but said recently that Jay didn't want Cam but Dame and Biggs told him it was happening regardless.
so why would Hov help Cam..........?

but....when Cam at that point had the biggest song in Rocafella history and Jay hadn't long came off an L to Nas he wanted to hop on the remix ?
for Jay it was the right move but Cam saw through it after Jay already didn't want to be in the video even though he was there at the video shoot for a press photo.

after that...it was petty between two.

Jay didn't want to do the Welcome To NY video...when considering the time period it would have been a good look for the city.
Dames said Cam was picking up the business so fast (the way he wanted Beans to) he thought it would be a great idea for him to VP..Hov don't like that for whatever reason, this situation gets deaded even though in an interview that Cam and Jay do together Cam is on there letting everyone know how good Freeway's album is and the date it was coming out..he also deletes Cam off of One For Peedi (i agree with this move though for the good of the song) at the same time Cam was trying to recruit Peedi to Dipset...Cam starts sending shots at Jay on songs etc...Bleeks peoples and Jimmy get into it, Peedi says their was friction with Juelz who was dolo with Bleek and his man at a Rocawear shoot, Beans got his own problems, Jay moves upstairs etc. etc...to Cam not being happy with Purple Haze coming out damn near a year later that it was supposed to and only going gold so he bounced and the split happened.

:yeshrug:

but Cam and Jay already had a weird history when you think about it;

from Cam saying they were around each other really early on because Cam would be in Dames Lexus before Cam and Dame fell out
only for Cam to be running with Mase who was having his own back and forth with Jay
getting a deal with Un who Jay had eventual problems with
having one of Jays pieces in Charli Baltimore as his label mate
then eventually burying the hatchet with Dame and coming over to Rocafella and be the apple of Dame and Biggs eye.

it is what it is..some people just don't click.
a shame because they are two of my favorites of all time and if the two of them were good it would have been

:blessed:

i do find it kind of amusing that Jay doesn't allow Dipset music to be played in his club or where he's at.

all of this don't change the fact that Cam's most successful album is on Rocafella. Jay was the only big figure head on the Roc but still managed to get his guys get Gold plaques. it's better than nothing :yeshrug:

The weird thing is Camron said that he never had any problems with Jay and that Jay always signed off on whatever they wanted to do while they were at Rocafella, he said the issues started after Jay left.....

i remember all there being a real period of build up of will they won't they diss each other.

think it may have started with Cam and Dames doing an interview with maybe XXL, then Cam said he was ready to go because he heard Jay was trying to get dirt on Cam in the lead up to the I Declare War concert then nothing happened there and then eventually Cam set it off.

I think it was definitely a case of when Cam was on the Roc while they respected each other it was strictly business , they def didnt fukk with each other like that due to history......... If Jay really didnt want him there and put his foot down there is no way Dips would have been on the Roc but one thing I gotta hand to Jay at heart hes a businessman that sees the bigger picture, he knew the Dips were the new wave

"Jay was the only big figure head on the Roc" You're looking real crazy right, almost as crazy as THIS GUY does in the pic below

Dude are you even old enough to talk about this? When you say stuff like this, it makes me think you clearly don't remember that time period.

Your argument has been debunked already, you can keep moving the goalposts, and reaching to tie Cam's success to Jay-Z specifically, but no one who followed either person's career would believe that.

bruh i know the history i ain't that young. let's not forget Cam wanted to become CEO of Rocafella after one album of his went platinum, people need to stop putting him on that pedestal. Jay helped him cause of his affiliation with Big L who even Jay wanted to sign before he got killed. as for being the boss, that's not how it works. Jay was going on his 8th album, had multi platinum plaques already. alot of these rappers don't want to put in the work of being successful on a consecutive basis.
