I try in a very odd way to imagine the blacks of today using nikka to one another in SOMEWHAT the same manner as Africans used negus to one another. Its obviously not the same situation, but when you got "my nikka", it's something positive.

Now a REAL solution to this whole thing is just us not using nikka, which is still a derivative of the racist N word, and just use negus. But that's never gonna catch on with the culture of today.

White people never called anyone "nikka". That's a modern creation by black people. What white people did say was negro, negra, negar, negrito, negre etc..and over time nigg(er) came about from a southern inflected/mispronunciation of the same word(s).

The "n word" isn't the only word like that though. I mean, I don't really recall much fuss being made over "jigga" or "boo". I'm sure people are familiar with "jiggaboo" as a racial slur. They are words that are used in rap songs and videos.Common's the only rapper that I've heard that even remotely called out the use of "boo" to describe Black women.
