Ja Rule joins hundred in protesting the poor housing conditions in New York City.
It seems that Ja Rule typically only pops up in headlines for bad reasons. Whether it's his ongoing feud with 50 Cent or his disastrous Fyre Festival last year. However, today is different. The rapper may not be in the limelight as he once was but he wants to make sure his voice is heard and helps others along the way. The rapper has joined the protest, along with hundreds of others, against New York City's poor living conditions for public housing.

Ja Rule joined hundreds of protesters in NYC to protest against the New York City Housing Authorities for leaving people with horrendous living conditions. The NYCHA has been accused of doing a poor job at handling tenants' complaints, not providing heat or hot water during the winter season and more. Ja took to the podium to address the issues with his fellow New Yorkers in attempt to fight back.

"I'm here to bring light to the situation. It's been going on for a long time and it's time for we, the people, to stand up and let our voices be heard." He said, "City Hall, New York City, the Mayor, the Governor they should all be ashamed of themselves. These are Americans, New Yorkers, living in third world conditions and it should not be this way."

The rapper continued to say that they need to also focus on NYC's education system but before that, there must be change for those living in these type of conditions.

"Let’s come out and let’s fight this cause first. Let’s shut this city down. We ain’t paying no more rent until this situation is dealt with. No heat, no hot water? No money, no rent," he said during the press conference.

Watch the full press conference below with Ja speaking at the 23:30 mark.

:salute: salute to Ja for this.

its disgusting what has happened to the infrastructure in NYC. NYCHA is only part of it. a large part of it, but still.

i think it's systemic and all by design. our trains, the roads, housing, even the closure of Rikers... they're trying to usher in the privatization of everything. after decades of mismanagement and institutional failure, especially after the pension bubble bursts on the boomers who are going to be retiring...privatization will unfortunately be an easy sell . just wait until corporations sponsor certain train lines or subway stops and we'll be bombarded with ads over the loudspeaker on our already brutal commutes to and from work:mjcry: Amazon sponsoring the management of certain housing complexes, under the requirements that all able bodies residents work for them to maintain their homes :mjcry:

50 would probably laugh at and riddle cule the residents

:mjlol: "riddle cule"

Actually you're wrong 50 offered to pay for the repairs in the projects in exchange for them being named after him but NYCHA refused his money so he did this instead.

In 2007, the space formerly known as the Baisley Park Community Garden began its remarkable transformation into the Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson Community Garden.

I am just so happy to have this garden. I know when the kids are in school, we come in the afternoon and invite other kids in the neighborhood who come in and do their homework in the shade. And for those of us who are asthmatic it’s just wonderful to have the garden to come to.DEBORAH SAMPSON
Giving back to his childhood neighborhood and the community that has supported him over the years, rap-sensation Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson joined forces with NYRP Founder and performer Bette Midler to breathe new life into this much needed green space.

Generously underwritten by 50 Cent’s G-Unity Foundation, the site was re-opened in November 2008 and features the talents of acclaimed landscape architect and designer Walter Hood. Incorporating a children’s learning garden, vegetable plots and a patio area, the garden does much to draw the community into the garden and take the garden out into the community. An innovative and wildly creative design makes the property not only a lively, multi-functional gathering space, but also provides gardeners with amenities such as a unique rainwater harvesting system – composed of 10-foot-tall funnels – which provides regular irrigation, as well as shade for rest and relaxation.

Located in the Jamaica section of Queens, the garden represents a much-needed resource for an area that currently has less than five percent of the recommended amount of open space to serve its more than tens of thousands of children residents.
