The only legitimate case that can ever be made against Kanye as an MC is that he's spitten questionable ghostwritten stuff. Kanye is a great MC in pure MC terms, he might not be saying out of this world shyt but his elocution and magnetism when rapping is what being a rapper is all about. He can just rap memorable verses that can blow anybody else on the song out of the water.

He has memorable lines because he's popular not because they're good. Every rapper that's insanely popular has memorable lines but Kanye has never had a single verse in his life which made me feel like I was listening to a great rapper. He has some good verses, but nothing special and most of his verses are average or bad.

what technical aspects is he good at? His rhyming skills are minimal, his flow is the same and weak. What about him as an MC makes him stand out SKILL wise?

Drakes prime run has basically been since he came in the game in 08

So 08'-14' is a 6 year span. He's every bit as successful as Ja Rule has ever been.

Drake wasn't running shyt in 2008. Drake's run in from 2010-2014. Ja Rule's run was from 1998-2003, in that time frame Drake sold 6 million records World Wide, Ja Rule sold 10 Million records in the US alone. So no, you're wrong.

those are just allegations & insults.

the worst allegation that came out of this was actually the snitching accusations towards 50 cent. people have been referring to him as 5-0 & a rat ever since.
No, the chain snatching is a fact, the calling him a snitch is an exaggerated insult, but you already knew that.. youre obviously one of those 50 haters so im not gonna go back in forth with a brick wall.

Dawg Mystikal went double plat back then.

Nobody moves units now and its been that way for at least 8 years. Its a WHOLE different time of ballgame now.

And "Best I ever had" came out in 2009 So Drake was running shyt since 09....

Maybe because Mystikal was popular and had hits?

Drake wasnt running anything in 09, he had a huge buzz but he wasnt RUNNING it till 2010. Thats like saying 50 ran the game in 02.

He's popular because he's good. You don't get to the level Kanye's at by being an average rapper, no matter how fly your music is. I don't know what you consider to be "good rapping" but if you wanna hear some outstanding verses, Run This Town, Family Business, Gorgeous, Dark Fantasy, Diamonds From Sierra Leone, Gone, just a couple to boot.

Kanye's delivery, charisma, and general presence are his strong suits, if you define technical aspects as simply flow and rhymes then I wouldn't expect Kanye to be up there for you. But an MC at its most core definition and qualification is someone who's mastered the performing craft, a person who's got the groove and the soul. There's boatloads of rappers who can rhyme and flow like Jay-Z and Nas on their best days, but someone with the right resonance and presence is one in a million. I just think of how people were saying Kanye killed Jay on WTT when Kanye didn't spit a lick of a distinguished "lyrical" verse.

Drake never came out claming hes a thug like ja tho

Hes been emotional from day one..there is nothing you can expose about him that he hasnt already done himself....ja was a diff story when 50 came on the scene

So Drake don't be trying to thug it out?
The absence of people believing he a thug or even tuff does not equate to the absence of him attempting to achieve such a persona

To be fair Ja wasn't running shyt in 1998. His run was more 2000-2002. And people still bought albums back then.

Point was comparing album sales then and now is pointless. Drake is the biggest rapper out now.

In 03 that means he would going 5X or more

Why are you using Albums sold in you comparison.

Drake 6 now would be 20 mill in Ja's era.
