yeah you definitely know it's major when you feel it. plus a doc has some basic tests to evaluate damage. i tore mine up and went to the doctor the next day...he told me to lie down, he put his hands behind my knee, lifted my leg a little and said "yep, it's torn". he could tell just by how my lower leg shifted.
