The big thing I notice about Wiggins are things that can be improved with time, coaching, and training.
If you look at his mechanics of his shooting, his form is pretty good. A little stiff but good. He has a nice step back jumper too.
His ball handling is suspect but it's something that can be improved. He's like Durant in the sense that his extreme length and span mean that he's just not used to dealing with actual ball hawks. He just needs to work on being in more control and knowing when to extend his steps for maximum stride or shorten it for more control.
If you look at his defense, you see that he has great footwork and lateral quickness so he can turn that it into better ball handling.
I see Jabari being a Pierce / Joe Johnson type. Good to great for most of their career. I see elite potential in Wiggins.
we may not see eye to eye about LeBron but I find myself agreeing with you on other NBA related topics. co-sign on the Durant/Wiggins comparisons with regard to ball handling. I find it funny how everyone forgets Durant's handle was suspect his first season. Dude improved alot in year 2. Then went to another level the last couple of years gaining one of the most sublime handles in the league.
Wiggins will do the same.
I see more Paul Pierce than Joe Johnson in Jabari Parker
What distinguishes Joe is his better handling and post-up game than that of Pierce. Pierece has never had great handles. Joe is also more athletic. Pierce in his prime was simply the better shooter/scorer and overall player, period.
As for Jabari Parker , while i dont watch college sports and only seen a few highlights, you get the feeling that he'll be pretty good and can vastly improve with coaching. But looking at the few highlights and the workout vid, he seems to be a slightly more athletic version of Paul Pierce.
I havent seen enough of the Wiggins kid to comment much but he LOOKS more athletic. Not sure about the rest of his game.
