But Kobe was trash his rookie year.

smh. Young kids don't know shyt.

Kobe was the first non-big to make the jump from high school to the NBA and he was placed on a team with 3 bona-fide all-stars. He never got a chance to shine as a rookie because dudes like Jerry West and Del Harris thought it would be better to bring them up slowly.

When Kobe got minutes his second year he showed that he was already an elite player. He was a starter in the all-star game eventhough he was coming off the bench behind Eddie Jones. He was leading the league in bench points for most of that season and scored 33 against Jordan in the United Center while Shaq was out.

Kobe Bryant was NEVER trash.

I hate fakkits like you always trying to re-write history. Kobe wasn't better than Nick or Eddie that's why he was coming off the bench. Kobe started in the all-star game, because he was one of the young exciting players in the league that was drawing comparison to Jordan. He was voted in because he was popular, not because he was an elite player. Kobe became elite in 2000, then a superstar in 2001. Anything else is revisionist bullshyt.

Kobe wasnt THAT athletic. He's wasnt a "freak" athlete like wiggins in his prime.

:comeon: Kobe at his athletic peak was dunking with his head at the rim.

"Kobe Bryant is an athlete supreme. He has so much athleticism its oozing out of him."

Now I'll agree with you that Kobe at 17-18 was not as athletic as Wiggins right now. However, Kobe really didn't hit his peak athletically till 2002 when he added 20-30 lbs of muscle in the off-season. This is IMO Kobe's athletic peak and I would put him that year up against anyone EVER.

Sure I'd say prime Jordan, LeBron, Vince, and T-Mac were more athletic than peak Kobe. However, the gap isn't that much. And other than those dudes, I can't think of anyone else who is seeing 02-03 Kobe. Maybe Nique but I didn't watch him play. Maybe Dr. J but I didn't watch him play either. But of dudes who have played in the league since 1998, I'd say Kobe is the fourth most athletic behind Lebron, t-Mac, and Vince.

I watched enough from Kobe in 1998 to know he was better than Eddie Jones. shyt the 25 minutes Kobe got on the court that year, he outproduced Eddie. I don't remember Kobe as a rookie but I'd take 19 year old Kobe over Eddie Jones in 98.

Remember he averaged like 15/3/3 in 26 minutes a game. Give Kobe 35-40 minutes a game his second year and he would average 25/5/5. That is what I call ELITE in my book.
