I bought a Carbon 15 when I was 18
Now I'll agree with you that Kobe at 17-18 was not as athletic as Wiggins right now. However, Kobe really didn't hit his peak athletically till 2002 when he added 20-30 lbs of muscle in the off-season. This is IMO Kobe's athletic peak and I would put him that year up against anyone EVER.

ehhh, decent comparison; but young Kobe wasn't as athletic as Wiggins is now, and he wasn't as fundamentally sound as Jabari is right now. He was never really on Wiggins level in terms of being a freak athlete, and he didn't really master footwork until later on in his career.

I watched enough from Kobe in 1998 to know he was better than Eddie Jones. shyt the 25 minutes Kobe got on the court that year, he outproduced Eddie. I don't remember Kobe as a rookie but I'd take 19 year old Kobe over Eddie Jones in 98.

Remember he averaged like 15/3/3 in 26 minutes a game. Give Kobe 35-40 minutes a game his second year and he would average 25/5/5. That is what I call ELITE in my book.
Kobe wasn't better in 98. He was more talented, but he was too inconsistent, his defense wasn't as good and his shot selection was awful. Zero chance Kobe averages 25/5/5 even if he had his own team. He started off the season hot but, by the time Febuary came around he hit a wall and wasn't playing as well. He was better than Eddie in 99, not in 98.

Posts like this is why I can't take you seriously.

never said he was

but he definitely was as fundamentally sound as Parker

Kobe at 17 had the fadeaway and footwork down. Here's Kobe's first summer league game as a 17 year old rookie.

looks like the same player we see today......just a lil weaker at finishing at the hoop cause he lacked physical strength...........that fadeaway at 1:09 looks as pretty as the one he drains today.......his footwork was always impeccable

I hate fakkits like you always trying to re-write history. Kobe wasn't better than Nick or Eddie that's why he was coming off the bench. Kobe started in the all-star game, because he was one of the young exciting players in the league that was drawing comparison to Jordan. He was voted in because he was popular, not because he was an elite player. Kobe became elite in 2000, then a superstar in 2001. Anything else is revisionist bullshyt.
I dont know about that.By his 2nd year Kobe was the best guard on the Lakers but Del Harris was reluctant to start him. I understand you trying to be objective but i'd take JErry West's word over yours.
