He's flailing because he was told 3 times when he was trying to sell twitter (which is all it was created to do, sell off and make him and his co-creators very very wealthy) "hey this platform is really cool and has a lot of potential, but you need to do something about all the Nazi's" and his technolibertarian brain triggered an eplilepsy when asked this and spazzed out and told all 3, including Disney mind you "nah fam I'm good".

And now he's stuck on the sinking ship realizing the errors of his ways and he knows the only method out is to just dig farther down and pray a conservative whackjob with more money than sense buys the platform.
