Just because the money is earmarked doesn't mean that cities will actually see it considering we've seen the misappropriation of funds on a grand scale especially recently in Mississippi. They'll give the funds to whiter more wealthier cities while the poorer ones are shyt out of luck.

This state has a republican governor, republican state legislature, two republican senators representing them in congress, who usually actively work against any climate related measures or any environmental justice policies at all, its a dangerous indifference, the population is over 80 percent black and they usually vote democrats anyway so who cares, republicans have shown time and time again that they would rather focus on culture war issues like banning books in elementary and high schools than solve issues like this. vote accordingly

lead pipes are a nationwide problem they reported that Newark's drinking water had more lead in it than Flint (Flint's water was more fukked by chemicals though) but they got a lot of people used to drinking bottled water so there's that.

Well not everything is part of a nefarious plot. Lead pipes seemed lilke a good idea when they wee laid 150 years ago Now we know about lead poisioning.

Even replacing the pipes especially without water disruptions takes time, but yeah there's less urgency in certain areas.
