the jacquees remix got that classic mid-00s R&B vibe... way more soulful :banderas:

but still, ella mai's version is also very, very good... that's my UK yellabone boo :to:

LMAOO THIS happened with Tory lanes controlla remix drake stans was in they feelings

lmfao tory version defecated all over drakes too

From a high height as well.

just bumped these again... popcaan also outshined drake on controlla... i think that's why they took him off and put the beenie man sample on instead on the album.

makes sense cuz they were tryna going for an island vibe on the track and tory/popcaan jamaican... drake doesn't sound as authentic in comparison in that instance.

This and that Trip remix just tells us Jacquees needs to get some better writers and some other people to produce his music.
He fukked up signing to cash money. They ain’t a r&b label and they’re pretty much wiped out with Wayne (tho he’s washed anyway) and drake gone and nicki not really repping them anymore (and on the decline herself). I know he was excited being that’s the label that ran shyt in his adolescence, but he signed his deal a couple years too early. I really liked his album but he’s not going to get the development or push he would with a label more experienced with connecting and promoting r&b artists.

If you know Boo’d up word for word then you know B.E.D. Word for word

Take the L
Bed and bood up aren’t comparable at all. They both took awhile to get to radio, but bed was more an individual consumer song where bood up was that and a legitimate commercial hit. Bed is plat from streams, bood up is plat from streams, radio and video play...

My point was there are very few people in the urban community that don’t know both songs and they both hits

Boo’d up only took a while to reach radio cause the radio was pushing Ella other music until they saw Boo’d up catching fire

I just looked it up on the Billboard Biz website to be sure because I know @CrimsonTider is right. These are Jacquees 3 biggest hits:

"B.E.D" was a top 5 hit on mainstream urban radio, while "At The Club" & "Ocean" were top 10 hits.

The reason Jacquees never charted that high on the Hot 100 is because most R&B artists don't do big streaming numbers to begin with.

he peaked at #69 on the EXACT SAME chart ella mai went #1 on...miss me with the juelzing

You literally just ignored what I said & kept spouting ignorance. First of all, Ella Mai's "Boo'd Up" NEVER went #1 on the Hot 100 chart (or even #1 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart). It peaked at #5 on both of those charts.

Like I said before, the reason Jacquees never charted that high on the Hot 100 is because most R&B artists don't do big streaming numbers to begin with. The reason that "Boo'd Up" charted that high is because it turned into a crossover hit. None of Jacquees' hits have turned into crossover hits, they were only Urban hits.

Some yall trippin

It’s her song. Idc if he did it better, he taking away her shine and food off her plate essentially

I liked Tpains remix too but he didn’t put it on spotify or have it playing on radio. You DO make money off it being on radio.

Of course label gonna try to stop it

Should’ve made his own song

No, it’s not

Thats the problem now. Be original. Sampling shyt from the 60’s is totally different than what this nikka just did (and I’m actually not a fan of sampling).

She JUST put out a song and got it poppin then this guy wants to “remix” the entire somg without her being involved and without labels permission...

It’s called stealing. Pain did it but didn’t promote it and didnt make money off it. It was essentially a cover.

:comeon: Jacquees did the exact same shyt T-Pain did & never tried to make money off it. T-pain is obviously talking out his ass by saying Jacquees' remix was on Spotify & other subscription services. It was only on Soundcloud & YouTube (Just like other unofficial remixes). It's not Jacquees' fault that his unofficial remix blew-up.

That’s kinda the point he’s trying to make tho, Ella has had “more success” in the sense that her song has performed commercially better than anything he’s done. She’s reached a wider audience. Yet even with that, they’re both in the nascent parts of their careers trying to establish themselves and him jacking a song she’s trying to make into her next hit is not a good look.

As I already said, it’s totally different when some up and comer does this with an established artist’s song (still annoying tho for people to be riding the wave of your current hit...especially in r&b where it’s word for word cover vs. rap where cats put new lyrics on a hot beat) but they both are new and trying to build a career, he needs to fall back on this one.
