I see Jaquees taking a page out of Wayne's old playbook ... Remixing everybody shyt It's working :ld:

yeah but UMG wasn't blocking WAYNE's shyt...

cause back then Streaming wasn't montetized like it is today

that shyt of just innocently uploading your shyt or putting it on a mixtape to be heard on the internet can get your AZZ CAPPED..if you fukking with an artist's ASCAP

she has 4 million views alone on youtube :ohlawd:

i hope she got a good mechanical and performance royalty split in her contract

or she gonna be "tripping" like Aloe Blacc over that low revenue

Aloe Blacc's Song Was Played 168 Million Times on Pandora. He Received $4,000…

if UMG was smart...

they would just make the jacquees remix offical......

since they both are on the SAME LABEL and he is basically singing along with her vocals on the same track...

and that's sad. BEcause that gave alot of great music. "Jackin for beats" was a hip-hop staple.

Fab came up off that initially...prob why he hasn't dropped anymore mixtapes lately. The Soul Tape series was heavy on other ppls beats.

Wayne of course.

Damn, I knew when labels stopped letting artists straight up release mixtapes on Datpiff and other sites, it was gonna be the beginning of the end. Once every "free" mixtape starting being stream only on Soundcloud it was a slow death

Ur right. What they should've done is just put them both on the same track. Have her do her 1st verse, chorus....then 2nd verse is his 1st verse from his remix. It would've been HUGE. But he dropped it on his own.

This is def gonna set a new precedent where all artists have to "check in" with labels before they drop anything at all.

Remember when R. Kelly was remixing everything several years ago? Boo'd Up was a song tailor made for an R. Kelly remix

everything you said is 100% right

but real talk you always had to check in....

before it was just on the streets...and it was easy to allude the labels via the bootleggers and mixtape spots

so nikkas didn't give a fukk

..but now the internet has made it where labels can just email a threat of cease and desist and have shyt taken down...YOU CAN'T HIDE FROM THEM ANYMORE..big brother shyt

i remember the RIAA having to run to each spot in every city shutting down whole stores where you find your Ron G blend tapes and kid capri and doo wop and clues simply cause they had music that wasn't cleared by the LABEL..even though the artist was mad cool with the deejay cause he realized it was good promo

they were actually having mofos locked up!!!......a partner of mine even got hit with a sexual offender charge which he beat cause they sold porno tapes along with mixtapes and try to allege that a minor purchased a porno according to a "snitch" rival mixtape deejay :pacpsit:

shyt was crazy....but the culture was soooo strong back then....

i always thought anita baker was dope..but it wasnt till i heard uptown deejay RON G remix her vocals over a breakbeat that i truly became a fan....

the labels and the RIAA are just greedy b*stards

They got so upset that they couldn't make money off of LP's anymore they decided to treat the "MIXTAPE" as album oriented label material....

thier is NO SUCH THING AS PROMO ANYMORE or side INDY work for an artist

thank god ....the early 2000's didn't have that shyt...we wouldn't have TRAP OR DIE....GUNIT mixtapes or gang of other great shyt...

slowly over time, alot of that stuff and alot of other unofficially released stuff will slowly disappear from the internet. If you have much of it, you better back it up, hang onto it.

the ugly side to the streaming era is they have control over EVERYTHING, anytime they want to. I remember I was getting into Steely Dan around this time last year.....then one day I get onto Google Music, and SD's most popular album was gone, disappeared. They put it bck up again weeks later when they got some contract figured out or something. But that's just crazy

Outside of da Mike Jones shyt, Wayne use to wait months or years to remix some shyt.
