The fanbase of rap music loves these mob fantasies rap sells to us. Why is a song like ante up so addictive when it is about degeneracy? Heavy metal also has violent lyrics but their fans allow them to be regular people off the stage. We need our rappers to be the person they claim to be in their lyrics and clown them if they are not.

Hip hop is the voice of the black America in "real time"....From the suburbs to the hood

If you witnessed from your window and scribbled your thoughts, you have the same representation as the soulja slim type who was probably dropping nikkas for real...

If you rap about putting nikkas in the graveyard, you gonna get tested on it because the audience you speaking too really come from that...

Which is why I can't be mad at nikkas "taxing" these rappers when they come to their city

They want to feel authentic and shout out nikkas who actually do what they rap about...

This closer to home, because East is closer to my age (a year and a day older), and he spent time in Richmond, a city I frequented as well once upon a time, and being so close in age, and being out on the East Coast with NYers spread up and down the coast, you meet guys in our age bracket with six degrees of separation type shyt to him...

He's another guy who it's pretty common knowledge he's not that kinda guy from the soil. I don't even remember hearing anyone question it, not NYers I met in passing, not Richmonders I met on the way. The biggest controversy about this dude was him claiming he Spanish and downplaying his blackness, and nobody knowing what hood he from, remember that fiasco of dudes in both Harlem abd Queens saying they didn't know fam? 🤣 I don't know if everybody remembers this but at the time there were cats from VA and NY clowning dude on social media...

His street credibility has never been controversial to anyone I ever met because people know he not a dude who was in it like that...

Dudes touch success from legit artistic talent and funnel that into more inappropriate behavior and affiliations, and craft these images. And because the success brings popularity, income abd a modicum of power, aint a whole lot of people around to check these dudes, lotta nikkas just gassing these nikkas and they believe their own hype, and so does the general public...

The DaBaby dude is a similar case, said it before and it bears mentioning because of the relatability to East, the context of this thread, and many other rap nikkas. This nikka has NO reputation in the streets of Charlotte other than dealing trees with one of his brothers...

When dude was really blowing up locally it was a common joke for nikkas to ask where he was from (in the city of Charlotte). He never identified it on wax, not once. He was hot though, and at that time his public persona was well-liked locally, we're talking 2016-2017 era. His rapping was also different, not so much stylistically (he got the same style today he had 6-7 years ago 😆), but his content was different...

There was no American Gangster bravado from fam early, he would talk about being sticked up, but he was a pretty boy who rapped about bytches and his money. There wasn't all this shoot em up shyt, he couldn't do it, it would have needed some verification...

He started getting major label attention after the SXSW diaper stunt, his team fractured over artistic and managerial direction, and he came back with a flow clearly aimed at talking about being a killer. By this time though his popularity was already beyond just Charlotte, the labels had noticed him...

Dude and his brother made some decent bread selling weed, they weren't considered broke dudes. But no one ever saw this dude in any of the hot areas, none of the nikkas who are actually like what he portrays know of his name as being the same, him and his bro are from a really suburban area in far North Charlotte, and made they money out that way and in Cabarrus...

This nikka has no credibility in the actual streets of Charlotte as who he says he is, anybody from Charlotte from that side knows this. It's not even disputed, other than cats have left open the possibility he may have got Into some gun action out in the burbs, but even then it's never been something unquestioned...

Dude blows up from killing the guy in Walmart, whole lot of initial mixed reports on that, and the rest is history. It was easy for hip hop to market him as a gangster, and people who aren't the wiser could and have, always leaned on the Walmart killing, and that 21 video shoot, as proof of dude's gangsta...

But he's a nobody, reputation wise, in the streets of Charlotte, preceding that killing, besides being a successful mid-tier weed man. There are no stories of Baby clapping anything, no stories of anybody being afraid of this dude, no stories of this nikka putting in any street work in any hood in Charlotte...

He once had hella Stan's on here who couldn't believe this 😂...

My underlying point is they are far from the only two nikkas like this. Alot of these younger rappers these dudes think are more active than past eras, fall into the same categories as East and Baby...

I've always said this: anyone with common sense knows Ross embellished his work and how deeply entrenched he was...

But dudes from SoFla don't speak ill of him, and the two or three dudes I met from there with respectable testimony, all said he did deal and he does have loose affiliations to some local legends. Everybody knows he wasn't Freeway Rick. Everybody knows he does wear a character, but he wasn't a dude who was never really involved, he was known for dealing coke...

And you never hear SoFla/Miami nikkas question his street cred...
I’ll play devils advocate with da baby I always thought was corny.

You don’t have to be from the hood to be tough and to the smart street nikkaz it’s good to not be known.

If I can make bread in the burbs without having to look over my shoulder and do it in the hood, honestly that might be the best situation

With that said you can still had hot head tendencies and not be fukked with tho. You just never had to really show it cause you wasn’t tested like nikkaz in the hood was.

He has a ton of hot head issues but he also has been the one confronted on a lot of occasions and has stood tall as a man in all of them

Another example is the kid “cj” who made the whoopty songs. He was dead wrong for making that song and stealing these guys slang and shyt and pretending to be a blood.

But on the flip side after they kept fukking with him, he said he fukk and posted a message saying “who ever has a problem with a can fight and get it over” and they all stopped and left him alone, probably cause they knew they couldn’t beat him in a fight cause he looked a bit tougher then them with hands, he was a muscular and they fell back

He was from suburbs but he probably was tougher then them with hands

:snoop: look at all my stupid brehs in here...

I'm sorry but black people are finished I've concluded.

Got people shocked or appalled because that man family is actually decent. Feeling some type way because come to find out (as if that was necessary) his rhymes aren't authentic.

It's rhymes folks...it's entertainment. It's not supposed to be real!!!!

Yall must have never actually been around artists and athletes lol. Their just regular people, usually on the corny side. I mean fr fr CORNY. You can see it's just acting and entertainment.

nikkas in here talking bout he has a responsibilty....naw...his responsibility is to eat or be eaten. We prey on you weak minded, dummies who don't have the intellect to understand a basic law: eat or be eaten. Make money or someone will use you to make money.

I swear nikkas are backwards lol.

"OH my God....Jada isn't a real nikka"....lmao. Wtf is a "real nikka".

He real af. He hustled a image all these years and continued his families example of creating a stable environment for his kids.

He preyed upon the weak, less fortunate, and easily led astray, which is how nature works if any of you actually read or study nature.

yeah, why wouldn't he?

why would they need to be street? You making X sound one dimensional and shyt.

when X had a label, he signed yung berg.

Per berg himself, he wasn't as street dude, was a legit rich kid/well off but he went to sell drugs cause he wanted to.

I just don't get why people so invested in this so much, does it make the music sound better or something if they that gangsta or something? I never understood this, if people are the listener they should be worried about the music. About 95% of these rappers, even the real ones are lying in their raps.

Thats why 50 cent ethered this fool

50 Cent got shot 3 times, and took his name from a real life street dude from Brooklyn. He's not the first guy with that name, if anything he's just as fake as Rick Ross, taking real life street dudes whole persona.

Nah bro im not gonna buy this shyt. Even tho i fukked with gangsta rap and all that as a youngin i never denied its negative impact cuz i literally SAW IT. You can say its only entertainment becuz you now an adult, probably with a degree and a regular job.

But can you say that to the folks STARVING in the hood, looking for a way out with a lack of education that its just entertainment when it affects not only them but people around their way? Especially if you not really living that life. While they out there strugglin for a meal and a future, you rappin like you live it but live comfortably in the burbs and only acting infront of the camera as long as it benefits you.

Please dont go to the "blame the parents" thing either.

As a person from the 914 South Yonkers isn't nothing to play with. Mount Vernon too. They're considered the "hoods" of Westchester County

Jadakiss is considered one of the hardest rappers out there. The stories he told he seen from his own two eyes. There's a lot of fukkery behind the scenes the news channel don't broadcast. Styles P, and Sheek Louch also fit that category.

Any stories about X?

you the same guy who posts 90% of shyt about an artist OUTSIDE their music. You care. get outrta here trying to say it's only about the music, when your ass pushes for topics outside the music. you always the first to say it's about the music but always first to post about the shyt outside of music.

and you missed my point entirely. you trying to spin it when you the one saying X wouldn't sign/associate guys who aren't street. make up your fukking mind
