im not going to post every single one but there were countless tweets as well as quoted replies like these below from black fans after brandi cut that promo, whereas the only people praising her were white people who never hung out with a black woman from the hood in their life talking about some "oh shyt brandi went hood and ghetto on that chick!"

She got almost a year to cook on-camera before that is all I'm saying. Cargill is in an angle with Cody following her debut appearance. I look forward to seeing how this plays out though.. Not complaining as long as Jade gets screen-time

Hmmm, that Brandi promo was actually worse than Cargill's. Brandi might not have been as nervous with her delivery but it definitely didn't sound believable, and this is someone who hasn't watched a more typical Brandi Rhodes promo. I'd say the more racial component here is the overhype of Rhode's "sassy" promo. They weren't too far off the mark in their critique of Cargill but the praise for this basic Brandi promo is over the top to the point it could actually be considered mockery. Still, I find it a bit humorous that AEW may unintentionally be courting controversy over what was supposed to be nothing more than a backdoor introduction for Shaquille O'Neal.

There needs to be a happy medium with that though. When Lesnar debuted in 2002, it was obvious he was being pushed to the moon but they didn't have him out there talking or doing any heavy character work until almost a year after his debut if not more. I think Cargill would have come off better in a shorter promo WITHOUT the Brandi Rhodes involvement. They could have gotten into a brawl backstage if they wanted to tease a rivalry there. I honestly think Brandi's promo dragged the whole thing into camp territory and Cargill received all of the flack for it.

Wife and I peeped the debut since "shyt" and while Jade's debut was, she had the chops to cut a promo. Now the Brandi shyt is where me and my wife went*turns to Food Network*. shyt was forced, wild cringe, and just the epitome of a SNL writer spending a hour waiting for a sub at a bodega and going "I figured out how black folks talk".

It’s crazy how niccas make these jokes but forget we see them WWE fan lines and front row for their shows.

Pretty much echo the same sentiments as people have already. Didn’t have a problem with Jade’s promo. The nervousness was obvious but she got her point across and will get better in time. Brandi can cut some fire promos and is a natural talker, but that promo in particular was as unnatural as I’ve seen in awhile. It sounded like something white people wrote for her after watching a marathon of House Of Payne.

Jade's promo was OK for a first promo, but the weirdest thing to me was her warning Cody about SHAQ. It's just a strange way to introduce Shaq if he is going to be in AEW, as some kind of destructive heel.
