Jagged Edge singer Kyle Norman probably won't be meeting his fiancée at the altar, because he's been accused of beating her ... and attempting to make her swallow her own engagement ring.

The singer was arrested early Thursday morning in Atlanta after officers responded to a fight call between the couple ... and found her with a golf ball-sized welt on her head.

According to cops, the woman claims Norman threatened to kill her ... then he allegedly began punching and choking her with a scarf -- and then tried to force the ring down her throat.

We're told Norman went peacefully when cops arrived. He claimed the whole fight started because he was upset about his dad having cancer. She says they were arguing about drinking.

Norman was charged with aggravated assault, and is still behind bars.

lol, some of these 90s r&b acts are out here looking crazy. To inspiring romantic young 7th graders like myself with 'He Can't Love You', and making marriage as an adolescent sound like such a wise, realistic option, with 'Let's Get Married' to catching bizarre alcohol fueled domestic violence charges all these years later….A lot of those singers weren't all that soft though, one of those JE dudes (actually was this one) got caught with like 30 packs and a pistol at some point, maybe 12 years back. And Sisqo got caught up shooting at someone years ago too…

To keep it 100, I still fukk with 'J.E Heartbreak', I used quarters and dimes to buy that album in 1999, right before I finished middle school. 'Promise', 'True Man', 'He Can't Love You', 'Can I Get With You', 'Keys To The Range'….

edit: at some point, there is no longer a need to tag these 'Jagged Edge' singer, and let it just be a delirious drunk man making poor decisions, who used to sing way back when.
