But this works better without the extension. You pay him 20+ mil this season, find a replacement to light a fire under him (or replace him if he crashes and burns) and then low ball him make him accept it or tell him to test the market, which i doubt theres many teams out there willing to pay him 25+ mil a year.
I hope we atleast have a team option or something

How did he not lead? He won against a top 5 offense in a shoot out in Pittsburgh...and used his legs to lead his team down the field and score a game winning touchdown against Buffalo in a very defensive game. I agree with your white QB narrative...but it doesnt apply here. Youre making it seem like he's Brock Osweiler or something. Oddly enough Jimmy G has a much more similar story to Brock if anything

This is actually a good deal he was guaranteed 19 mill this year cuz they jumped the gun. I know we like to clown this nikka and rightfully so but he played well in the playoffs and made decent throws. This deal drops his 2018 salary down from 19 mil to 18 and only guarantees him 8 more mill after that. And if god forbids he progresses and limits his turnovers he'll be under the jags control for only 18 mill a year going forward in a league where Kirk cousins bout to make 30 mill a year. Y'all gotta understand with there defense he don't need to be elite. If they chase Eli it will cost them draft picks. If they sign cousins they will regret it for years. If they draft a QB they don't wanna throw em in the fire. This deal is good trust me Blake just needs to keep doing what he was doing at the end and stay in control. Remember these guys would of been in the Superbowl if it wasn't for bias refs.

You don’t need a team option. You needed him to get his wrist fixed well before it was, so the $19M option wasn’t likely going to get automatically picked up and make this deal understandable (spreading the hit out, throwing on a couple years of team control if they want it).
If he sucks, the Jags can still cut bait soon enough. Again, if Lamar, for example, falls to them in the draft, they should still be on it. It only blocks them from entering the Cousins fray and they weren’t going to likely be big players there anyway.
