The Roots (specifically Questlove) seem to do sheisty business with other artists who have a perceived loyalty to them. There’s the widely known Jill/Erykah switcharoo on You Got Me. The fact that all the original members are out except Tariq and Ahmir never sat right with me. I definitely believe these Jaguar Wright stories as well. Also, y’all should listen to the Questlove Supreme podcast episode with Musiq Soulchild.

Musiq didn’t hold back, and he was calling nikkas out. Apparently, The Roots tried to get several other singers to sing “Break You Off”, despite the fact that Musiq helped create the song in a jam session with them. After they got stood up or turned down by a bunch of different artists, they were like, “well we might as well have Musiq do it.” Quest pretty much kept saying on the podcast that “we (the Roots) aren’t the best communicators.”

That’s kind of a lame excuse, especially when you’re dealing with people who had loyalty to you. All the people I mentioned are from Philly, and know the Roots members beyond the industry shyt. We already know Quest is a lying ass nikka from the Rosario Dawson thread.

According to Questlove, Alicia Keys agreed to do this song, but she stood them up three times... like she just didn’t show up to the studio. Again, judging by the Rosario Dawson story, this nikka could be lying.
:mjlol:

He also said Gerald Levert was a candidate for the song

Above the fray.
Sad stuff. Jag is a better singer than Jill. She was half way bad in her hey day.Super hood, though. She looked and acted like Jada Pinketts roommate on A Different World.

She's upset at the loss of Malik B., and is misdirecting that pain towards other people. Shots at the Roots are unnecessary. I don't fukk with the drummer at all, but the Roots literally put half of Philly on when they got their shot, including helping Jag get her break.
Seeing somebody struggle with addiction is hard, but this ain't it.

Thanks for posting this. I always like Jaguar and she deserves all the credit for her participation on the Jay-Z unplugged album. In my opinion Jaguar sounds hurt, and it’s unfortunate things have to be this way.

That story about the 65 year old white “hip hop granny” participating in a gang bang on the tour bus is crazy. Granny had a guy in each hole, and another guy slapping her. Quite an achievement at 65 years old.

I just finished listening to the live Jaguar posted today, she goes into more details about the granny who enjoyed sleeping with rappers, and had Tupac tattoo on her breast. She also talks about her experience with R Kelly too.

what she say about Kellz???

20:17 she goes more into the hiphop granny. She met her back stage and she showed her a book of all the rappers she fukked. She was 65 at this time (in '99/2000) The Roots brought her on the tour bus and one nikka was fukking from the back and another had his dikk in her mouth. And Keith McPhee was smacking her ass and the lady was saying "hey play nice" :laff:

22:10 in the new video. She also brings up Nas. She said it was a concert at the Detroit Lions stadium. She says that was the night Nas went crazy he had a real bad night that night she says she knows the story but it's not hers to tell. I guess something happened to Nas and he couldn't perform but she performed, then the Isley Brothers, and then RKelly. As far as what Rkelly did she said he had some young ass dancer who were so underdeveloped they had to stuff their bras and shorts. Rkelly would stick his finger in his mouth put in the their ass crack when they were performing on stage.

I always wondered what happened to her. I remember buying her first solo which was pretty good. incredible and very unique voice.

None of these roots stories surprise me. As someone who's followed them since their 2nd album and read up a lot about them outside music from back then it was pretty known they acted like that. Thought was a well documented alcoholic and excessive smoker of not just cigs for example. I guess some people would be surprised because of their music content.
