Dude was nasty though. I wondered if he had like a 9 to 5 or something

Cats like Dice, JR Writer, DOC and etc. The dudes in the crew that dont drop much but can spit/write. They are there for reason/certain occasions. Not saying they full fledged ghosted (aside from DOC) but I can see ideas being sent/passed along. B Thought is certified though, with the pen and off of the top.

You gotta keep your business clean from sexual dealings it just fukks everything up

I don't care how bad the bytch is. Few to none of the chicks you have professional and sexual relationships with will end well.

And if they do, thassa cold bish.

He mentioned that Gerald layed vocals and then came back to him and said a radio personailty told him that the record would not get any play cause Gerald was old so they stiff Gerald and Quest said Gerald aint fukk with him since
that song is why quest and dangelo fell out too.

there's a version with d's vocals floating around too. he didn't want to do the song but quest kept badgering him to do it so he just did it out of love. d wanted to shed the smooth r&b image he had and after it was done, he didn't like the vibe of the song and said not to put it out. i think quest said he really didn't like d's performance on the track either

I always wondered what happened to her. I remember buying her first solo which was pretty good. incredible and very unique voice.

None of these roots stories surprise me. As someone who's followed them since their 2nd album and read up a lot about them outside music from back then it was pretty known they acted like that. Thought was a well documented alcoholic and excessive smoker of not just cigs for example. I guess some people would be surprised because of their music content.

if it's just weed, then that's cool :manny:

Bout to listen "heart of the city" unplugged by just seeing her name. Is she gay now? If not, she certainly got the look.
I think she has a husband now. But she mentioned that she's bisexual when she was talking about her ex-husband being on the dl chasing trannys
Considering they "discovered" her and did a lot of production on her debut album, I'm pretty sure Thought had decent influence over her career.

Look at the production credits on her debut album. Roots all over this shyt.

I see what you're saying but to me it similar to like if Lloyd Banks was fukking Olivia. Or Drake was fukking Nicki. Sure there can be some influence there but I'm not going to put it all on them especially not as far as to say it was a metoo situation. If you listen to her rant she pretty much shyts on everyone who was successful (Badu, Jill Scott, Quest, Black, Jimmy Fallon, etc) and tries to martyr everyone who wasn't (herself, Malik B, Flo Brown). It really can come off as the typical woe is me, everyone that made it is the devil and wronged me without taking any personal accountability for her own actions. Listening to this I can tell she wasn't the easiest person to work with. Definitely the fly off the handle type. She was also very hypocritical because a large part of her message was women empowerment and stop letting men turn women against one another. Yet she was doing the very same thing. She talked about the perverted shyt the men were doing but would not mention any of them by name other than Keith McPhee smacking the old white hoe's ass too hard. Yet she went on minute long rants on Jill Scott's hoeing, and a couple other random women's hoeing (she mentioned their names I just forget the name because they're not that relevant). I'm not saying she doesn't have a grievance here but she's playing it up way more than what it was.

So why did they fall out? Or are you saying Quest stopped fukking with D'Angelo because he backed out of the song. Or Is it because it leaked?

I knew it would only be a matter of time before somebody came out and spoke the truth.

They did Malik dirty.

M-Illitant was an addict, and kept getting booked. He was in jail more than not. That was his demon to conquer. He also had stints in recovery, halfway & transitional housing.

These conscious nikkas more devlish than the rap nikkas they used to criticize on the low

How so?

They fukked groupies and messed with drugs and alcohol. That's literally every artist that tours heavy.

I hate when bitter people do these exposals and everyone takes what they say as gospel. I heard from my people in Philly that Jaguar was too hood. That was when she first hit the scene. It's probably safe to say she rubbed people the wrong way and I'm sure The Roots, Jill, Erykah, etc could tell some negative stories about her.

I think it's more to the fact that he probably had other local producers and promoters etc not fukk with her anymore. I could easily see that shyt going down.

The Roots (specifically Questlove) seem to do sheisty business with other artists who have a perceived loyalty to them. There’s the widely known Jill/Erykah switcharoo on You Got Me. The fact that all the original members are out except Tariq and Ahmir never sat right with me. I definitely believe these Jaguar Wright stories as well. Also, y’all should listen to the Questlove Supreme podcast episode with Musiq Soulchild.

Musiq didn’t hold back, and he was calling nikkas out. Apparently, The Roots tried to get several other singers to sing “Break You Off”, despite the fact that Musiq helped create the song in a jam session with them. After they got stood up or turned down by a bunch of different artists, they were like, “well we might as well have Musiq do it.” Quest pretty much kept saying on the podcast that “we (the Roots) aren’t the best communicators.”

That’s kind of a lame excuse, especially when you’re dealing with people who had loyalty to you. All the people I mentioned are from Philly, and know the Roots members beyond the industry shyt. We already know Quest is a lying ass nikka from the Rosario Dawson thread.
Facts, great stories from Musiq
