As a Nets fan, I'm very on the fence about this trade. On one hand, we get a young hungry talent who's got a chip on his shoulder.
However, my biggest concern (which nobody has mentioned) is not how he'll fit on this team, but rather handicapped we'll be in our ability to retain Okafor.
Nope! And this is why I'm concerned about this trade.
According to NBA rules, because Philly decline he's 4th year option, the Nets can only re-sign him for what he was scheduled to make in that 4th year. In Jah's case, it was 6 mil. So the Nets can only give him 6 mil in the offseason. Problem is every other team is able to treat him as a UFA and sign him for whatever they want.
Meaning if Okafor plays well, he's most likely gone
..a lot of the teams with space next season already have young bigs or will be in the lottery selecting one so we might be safe
