Didn't do my research on it. I had to google just to find out what the latest software is. I broke mine at 8.1 and ignored every update after. Plus its common that the latest firmware versions don't have jailbreaks out so it was a safe assumption.
But still you were right and I was wrong.
u can back up your shyt and restore it and update it. Honestly theres no real reason to update unless you are using safari or mail or whatever stock apps come with your device. Or unless u have a really old version of IOS. I know nikkas who still eating off ios 7.

haha its the same shyt just different people/software. Its easy as shyt breh. no worries.
But say I don't want to update the software cuz I would hate to re do the jail break.. What are the chances of it acting up cuz I ain't upgrading that software?
they had the jail break available within a week after 8.1.2 came out. Just not many used it cuz it was in beta testing. I used it right away and it still works golden.
again,only apps that are gonna act up will be your stock apps (safari,mail,calculator ect.)
So unless u really need those apps then upgrade. if not,just jailbreak it and leave it.

its pretty easy. Just connect to you pc and google the version ur trying to jail break (8.1.2).
It'll give u step by step instructions on what to do. Once u get it,come back in here so we can hook u up with all the repos and apps u need
theres this one called LinkStore that allows u to download any app in apples app store for free.

If u can provide a fresh link to the 8.1.2 in the meantime... I would hate to download it from the wrong place
.Also is it necessary to do a back up to iTunes before hand?.. That would be some work I would like to avoid

I followed this but when I ran the program I got tge window to open up with a red x and under neath it a download with itunes on it but when I clicked it it wouldnt let me download it
