Also, his daughter was either terribly written or the child performance was terrible...their scenes together were pretty rough.

 At Jake's fukked up left eye while he's giving this struggle-ass speech at this formal banquet. He should've wore shades, an eyepatch, or something. It literally looks he's bleeding out of that eye.

first boxing movie to actually showcase boxing

most are just slug fests with zero blocking and 600 haymakers

seeing real training, real defense, and some combos/footwork was nice


but story wise... yea... same old cliches
