Jamaica looks to have Hurricane Melissa, a possible Cat. 5 storm, for several days.

This is a lie
I mean, considering I grew up there and know of and experienced the many near misses that occur I know little bit about what I’m taking about. No hurricanes hit the island when I lived there despite it being hurricane season for half the year. Ppl weee literally outside throwing hurricanes parties during hurricane Beryl.

Since September

I track damn near every storm just about now.. by habit.

fukks with our comms and been in enough hurricanes, typhoons, and tsunamis to pay it serious attention
I don’t know when they changed it, it used to be sept - Nov appararently it’s June - Nov now. I didn’t get the memo.

Hurricanes are horrifying and fascinating. I admit I watch the live feeds whenever I'm able.
they stop being fascinating when your area gets hit by them several times and we got fairly moderate storms when they hit our neck of the woods (Helene was fukkin terrible last year) I wish these bad boys on nobody but they are a fact of life in much of the coastal areas of the planet.
