I think it just boils down to the fact that Team USA is the hardest basketball team to make due to how deep the talent pool is and playing for another country is the best shot some guys have at playing in the Olympics
This is facts, and the same for some euro soccer teams. All in all it's a good development, these players raise the level of that other country so it's better for the game overall.
