James Brown was a bad, bad man. It's sad he became a comedy punchline

He sometimes gets lost in the shuffle but the man is goated and one of the most important and influential artists of the 20th century. Practically co-created hip-hop. He really needs to be celebrated more.
It’s better this way. Dude has a very troubled past and cancel culture still goes after dead people (Michael Jackson for example).

James Brown is one of the greatest musicians of all time. He was a pioneer in R&B, Funk, Soul. He was one of the original fathers of hip-hop right there with George Clinton and Parliament/Funkadelic.

Its just unfortunately in the 80 and 90s his drug use spiraled out of control and combine that with public spats with his exes and his trouble with the law. It clouded a great legacy but still the man really helped open so many doors and inspire so many artists. He def belongs in the pantheon as one of America's GOAT musicians.

His 80/90's antics are mostly forgotten; his music still lives and will remain. A GIANT.

I think the biopic with Chadwick went a long way to repair his reputation. He did a phenomenal job as Mr. Brown. I had to explain to my nephews how Rick James wasn’t just the caricature on the Chappelle Show. I put on his music and they loved it.
