People forget the only reason Locksley was brought in was for PR after the Durkin fiasco (even though Durkin was found not negligent by an independent investigation). Locksley was a loser at New Mexico State and got canned from there. Even his famed recruiting has slipped. Locks should’ve never been a long term answer but it’s typical for Maryland.

Terps hoops been suffering as well since Gary Williams retired. The administration is just not serious about competing in football. Maryland should be an above average team with all the talent in VA, PA, and Maryland.

Franklin is a very good coach he just wasn't in the elite class and this season proved it with all the pressure and expectations of getting to the championship game flopped hard...

I fukks with Locksley he's a legit cool good dude and he from the area so that extra reason to so him win but you right the last two weeks been frustrating af and the microcosm of his downfalls as a coach...Can't build any true momentum losing close games to teams on your level...Depending on how the season ends i don't see them firing him though...Even so they gonna have to get lucky like Indiana did...

edit- I forgot Franklin got ties to UMD....I could see him coming here...

Whenever this is true or false, Franklin wasn’t going to take this team to the promise land so the school had to move on. If Adidas is calling shots then this should be a major red flag because no outside entity should have say in what a academic institution should hire or fire. Also, I don’t know why Adidas is thinking that Penn St is a flagship brand. They has always been third fiddle in the conference to Ohio State and scUM and that perception hasn’t changed for decades.

I don't get how some people can defend James Franklin? Sure, he's a good coach, but it's clear as day he can't win the big games. Even if the grass isn't always greener on the other side, it's at least worth taking the chance getting rid of him and bringing in someone new.

Not once conference title in more than a decade as coach at Penn State? It's not like he was going 12-1 every year either. He had four losses in five of his seasons there. Some people are making him sound like he was pretty much Saban without the rings.

Even booty-chin O'Brien probably would have done better than Franklin if he stayed at Penn State.
