Brook Lopez is NOT making the same amount as LeBron. The max deal you get after your rookie scale deal is up is different from the one you get later. LeBron makes more.

If you get rid of a cap, someone like say Anthony Davis would be getting KG money before he ever suits up. Like I said, it inflates salaries across the board. Just because LeBron could conceivably earn $30-$35 mil a season doesn't mean overpaid guys' salaries now would remain the same. Look at MLB. When payrolls increase, so do the salaries that come with it. If you give a reckless owner more money to play with what do you think he's gonna do? Tighten the belt?

I know Lebron makes more however it's pretty close and Brook has the same deal after his first 4 years that Bron had after his first 4. Any system where that can happen is flawed.

I never said to get rid of the cap. I only want to get rid of max individual salaries for vets (you can keep the rookie scale). The problem with max salaries is that they are a status symbol and they give guys (or actually their agents) something to reach for in order to prove their status. If you had no max salaries you would have guys like Bron and Kobe and Dwight making $30 mil and guys like Harden wouldn't even be dreaming of making that much money. They probably wouldn't even be looking for the current max ($15-$20 mil per) because there would be no cache associated with those numbers. It would all come down to individual negotiations and people actually thinking as opposed to just saying "Gimme the max".

i don't know why they didn't try to package him and perk for howard. they'd have cruised to a title this year. even if howard wouldn't resign, it would've been worth it.

They can afford it they don't Want to pay it :umad: they been getting by on having kd, Russ, ibaka and harden on cheap deals. At some point you have to pay your players when they perform . It's hard to just find another j terry , harden etc in the draft so I'll stay a title contender with a young core rather than be cheap and let him go . This core can be together for years and almost won a title already .

They can just sign and trade Harden, and fill the void w/ a swingman that can shoot, and a backup pg. It's foolish to cripple your franchise for a 3rd option, when you can easily take that 9-13 mil for Harden and spread that around for role players.

Especially a third option that let you down in the Finals.
