Jamie Foxx is attempting to clear up a misunderstanding stemming from a since-deleted social media post that was criticized by some as antisemitic.

In a text post shared to his Instagram on Saturday, the Oscar-winning actor wrote, “I want to apologize to the Jewish community and everyone who was offended by my post. I now know my choice of words have caused offense and I’m sorry. That was never my intent.”

Foxx’s message was in reference to a prior post, no longer found on his feed, which read, “They killed this dude named Jesus… What do you think they’ll do to you???!” He ended the post with the hashtags #fakefriends and #fakelove.

Critics of the post interpreted “they” as the Jewish people, and historically antisemitism has been linked to the belief Jews are responsible for the death of Jesus.

In his message on Saturday, he continued, “To clarify, I was betrayed by a fake friend and that’s what I meant with ‘they’ not anything more. I only have love in my heart for everyone. I love and support the Jewish community. My deepest apologies to anyone who was offended.”

The posts come after Foxx experienced a still undisclosed “medical complication” that landed him in the hospital this past spring.

Earlier this week, the “Ray” star credited his sister Deidra Dixon with saving his life as part of a birthday tribute video he filmed for her.'

Nasty work
Maybe that'll teach him not to make crypric social media posts about fake friends as if he was a ratchet single mother :yeshrug:

I guess I'm ignorant because I'm not seeing the anti-semitism.

This was my first reaction. I thought there was another message I didn’t see. I couldn’t believe this is what they were getting mad at.

“They even killed Jesus” is a common phrase in black culture referring to how even good people can be betrayed.

shyt, Pun even said it in a rhyme “Out with the BS, we platinum, they even killed Jesus”

This whole situation is an example of outrage culture jumping the shark.

“#fakefriends” and “#fakelove” was right under what he said. What in the hell is cryptic about this and what he was referring to?:mjtf:

that stupid cracker Jennifer is out of pocket & Jamie apologizing is mind blowing.....:snoop:

only in 2023 can a powerful black man speak on fake friends & it gets twisted to you being anti semetic:dead:

Neither Jennifer nor Jamie did anything wrong.

Jennifer liked the tweet, got backlash, and explained that she’s not antisemitic and obviously didn’t view the tweet as such

Jamie got backlash, and more than likely because the man almost DIED a scant two months ago he didn’t feel like fighting obviously idiotic people who took his words out context he just deleted and apologized

Now they both can just move on.

Nobody in this scenario is wrong except for those who RUSHED to say Jamie Foxx, whose never publicly displayed a bigoted bone in his body, was antisemitic. And he’s in no condition to fight the bullshyt and I don’t see a large congruent of his BLACK celebrity “friends” coming to his aid so what was he supposed to do?

To the people saying the Romans killed Jesus

Yes they made the execution but The Jews made the call.

The Pharisees(Jewish religious leaders) had him arrested and brought before Pilate. The Romans at the time had dominion over Judea. Pilate was the emporer. They demanded they have Jesus killed.

Pilate told the Jews, there is no just cause to kill this man, there are no valid charges. But the people persisted. It’s a custom for the Roman’s to give back a prisoner on the Passover, they instead chose Barrabas and demanded Jesus be killed.

It’s all very political, you can read about why the Jews wanted him dead in the book of John.

The Pilate part I referenced is in John 18.
Excellent history drop.
It jogged my memory banks concerning the money changers/bankers of that day.

Cleansing of the Temple

The cleansing of the Temple narrative tells of Jesus expelling the merchants and the money changers from the Temple and is recounted in all four canonical gospels of the New Testament. The scene is a common motif in Christian art.

In this account, Jesus and his disciples travel to Jerusalem for Passover, where Jesus expels the merchants and consumers from the temple, accusing them of turning it into "a den of thieves" (in the Synoptic Gospels) and "a house of trade" (in the Gospel of John) through their commercial activities.

I think Jamie should've clarified what he was saying and that's it.
