Jamie Foxx to play Mike Tyson in biopic, script by Terence Winter *UPDATE* Scorsese to direct?!

Let's keep it 100. Since "Ray" Jamie's career has been average at best. This is the role he needs in his life. Sure "Django" and "Spidey 2" made money but they weren't great performances. If he pulls this off he might very well get another Oscar nod. Mike Tyson's life is amazing. The TV movie with Michael Jai White didn't do it justice:

I feel like Jamie is only a "good," actor when he's playing a character that's autobiographical: Tookie, Ray, Bundini, et al. He's excellent at mimicking people's movements, voice inflection and intonation, etc. When he has to play a fictional character and has to be the origin of the whole persona of an individual, he underwhelms (with the exception of Willie Beamon). I was re-watching Law Abiding Citizen one day with the straight face watching dude butcher scenes. Since he won't be playing a fictional character in this film, I think he'll do fine.

"Law Abiding Citizen" was cool besides that weak ending. But I agree with you. Jamie seems to shine when he plays real life characters.

Yea because the damn HBO movie stopped at the Buster DOuglas loss...it didn't go far because it was made right after he went to jail

But the HBO Tyson movie was good for what it was made for; showing Tyson's beginnings; let's hope this movie starts right where the other movie left off at: his trial and prison sentence to 2014

it's not like he's doing some 9-5 job while he has to train. he has nothing but time, prolly gonna get some 20 MIL pay or play deal so he's got nothing but time to train, eat & sleep

LOL, great point. It was more about the Tyson early years. Michael Jai didn't do that bad and Paul Winfield did good as Don King but Vin Rhames did better in that "Don King" movie. But this needs to be a FULL BIO-PIC. Tyson as kid, then all his glory, then his downfall with the rap charge and prison term. Then his comeback by being on TV. I could see Jamie doing the voice too. He's going to have to work out to get Tyson physique back then.

Couture is a bad example, when he faught he used a trt exemption, now that he's not fighting anymore u know he's using harder stuff

Movie big and professional athlete big aren't the same thing lol. Jamie is older but he still has the frame, he could get in shape to play Tyson in like 2 months and he would look MASSIVE on film...


Thats why I don't understand why The Rock is still working out so hard. Its called acting breh, you're already 80 pounds bigger than everyone else in hollywood...
