I've listened to her music. Tight Rope was pretty dope but it's like she attempts to change the game with every track yet it falls short. It's like what happened to NERD's Seeing Sounds.

I haven't listened to her new album yet and I'm not super familiar with her older work but just by going thru that thread of her I get the feeling that she's being overrated on here. I'm to the point now where I can tell when somebody is being overrated or unfairly shytted on in the Coli, even without being too familiar with their work. I'm bout to download the album and see for myself.

This is the problem with this forum...I'll give you credit for saying you'd listen at least. most coli-posters don't even bother to listen before they decide to form an opinion on an artist and speak on them as if they know what the fukk they're talking about. but damn bruh, you could have at least listened to some of her catalog before making a statement like that

you sure you've listened? Yeah, her first album she was trying to experiment and push the genre forward. but her new album is pure throwback and old school. just a celebration of black music, not an attempt to change the game

Nah, trust me. I've been around for the latter part of SOHH and the genesis of the Coli. If you pay attention you can actually gauge when an artist is being overrated on this forum. BUT...I ALWAYS listen for my self. Always. I've heard some of Janelle's music before and nothing was awe-inspiring, but I'm gonna check out her new album today. I'm actually hoping it's as awesome as you cats are saying because there's something about the broad I actually like.
