bytch need to start making catchy music with more direct lyrics, that actually fits her damn vocals. Just because you can sing don't mean your voice can pull off any song/style

Not the same thing. Janelle's one of those artists where you feel weird for liking her. I didn't say her music was more sophisticated or elite. It's just different.

Just look at the first page. Half the comments are about her style, not the music.

If she dressed like she did before

and not like she's gonna serve you Black Label at a wedding reception, there would be more of an effort to like her more..

She's just in her own lane, and usually those artists don't get the kind of support they would somewhere else.

IDK about feeling weird about liking her, Dre3k is as weird as they come but even ignorant ass cats in the hood will tell you he is a beast on the mic. Everyone admits she is fine, but many feel her whole shtick is forced and her handlers attempt to gain favor with the growing Blipster crowd. Even if she dressed "normal" I don't think people would make more of an effort to like her music, her style is not a major factor with people who are on the fence about her imo.

She is an excellent on stage performer. So I can understand why he was mesmerized. I doubt he is listening to her music though.

Janelle Monae's album is one of the better R&B releases so far this year to me. Name 3 albums released this year better than it.

On the other hand Ciara is average at best; especially when you compare her to many of the other R&B artist's that came up around the same time as her such as Beyonce, Alicia Keys, Ashanti and even someone like Amerie who was less successful than Ciara.
