This was recorded around the time she had a nervous breakdown and went through the darkest stages of her life. Pressure of staying relevant, dark memories of her childhood started to take full surface inspite of thinking fame could suppress it, as well as health problems. This was her most personal album of her entire career. It had a darker feel at times and was very experimental(which worked out) she tackled different subjects that were considered personal and at times taboo (AIDS, Bisexuality, her abusive relationship with James Debarge)
This was one of the shows that I wish I was able to catch when she came back with a vintage:
Album still had timeless jams:
She had some good ones afterwards but this one stands out as possibly her best one since Rhythm Nation
