Are you comparing overrall or just console cause your list is very lackluster especially on the western side. Might be better to list companies instead of games/series.

Too many to list. You don't have any of the games that put Blizzard or BioWare on the map. The list seems to have little to no PC representation which is why I asked if it was just console based. I personally would chose Japanese if going by console but overrall I'm taking Western just because some of my favorite games come from Western devs.

I just threw Starcraft and Kotor on there. But I already had Wow, HL and CS on there. I primarily chose console games because I think most people on here play console

Look no further than the western attempts of Devil May Cry and Castlevania for example.

Although western devs can get it right once every blue moon like Metroid Prime.

This ones real easy and a no brainer...

The last two console cycles western devs got open world, RPG's, MMO's, shooters and sports genres on lock...

Japanese devs got Mario, Zelda and tranny boyband fakkitry genre on lock...

Japanese games usually have some way, shape or form content that makes you think (puzzles in RE for example) and just feels like a video game.

Western has higher budgets, immersion and a more cinematic feel to it.

It's like I can just tell when a game is from Japan, like Death Stranding for example, it's not just Kojima. Japan is just like that

Some of the best franchises ever are Japanese so they win by default but western games have made some piff. Even the games that you don't think of being "Japanese" are piff like MGS, Metroid, Zelda, Mario, Sonic, Souls games etc.

The only genre where western games might have the edge are shooters, sports and online games.
Other than that these Japanese nikkas got the industry in a chokehold

Most of my favourite games this gen were Japanese on the PS4 and Switch. Western games on the Xbox were

Do they really? It's not even a competition when it comes to Shooters, Sports, and RTS/TBS games. West has them beat easily. Action games, you could probably give a slight edge to Japanese but I think RPGs can go either way depending on preference. No matter how you feel about the companies now, BioWare, Blizzard, and Bethesda have made some of the greatest RPGs we have ever seen. For me personally West easily wins this conversation just based on those 3 companies alone.
