Yep that's my worry. He loves surfing and living on the beach. It's an easy shift to an AEW bag $ waiting I'm sure. But Tana and the brand need him more. Even if it's just a short grumpy run. This gen could use the rub and he gets his legend run.

Finlay being the option is just the nth example of how fukked this company is.

Shota winning it would've felt like an EVIL type of run at this point so it makes sense to let him try to find his character first. But that's probably not gonna happen in New Japan. He needs to go away and try shyt out in Mexico like Nakamura and Naito did.

Not even a Lil Fit fan, but his matches at WK was one of the best for the show and the WD match with Brody was solid.

Shota potentially joining War Dogs is interesting. There’s a chance it might help build his character.

The WK and WD matches only ones I’ve seen in a long time form him. They were solid but nothing remarkable/memorable, IMO. He certainly seems better than he used to be. I know the few folks on Bluesky I follow that watch much more of New Japan than I do seem to be singing his praises of late.
