The logic is the same I keep hearing players say. If you're guarding LeBron the scouting report says you give up the J and if he beats you with it nobody's mad at you. Both could be true. I think the thinking is that Kobe is a threat to shoot every possession, even when triple teamed. So there is a pressure to guard him all the time against the shot. Bron might make you feel a bit more comfortable because of the perceived pass first mentality. When you give up 35 to Bron it might have been on 19 shots so you look at the box score like how did that happen. When you give up 35 to Kobe it might be on 27 shots. So that stress to guard him is always heightened because he is gonna take shots all night.
