If I decide in the near future that I don't wanna pursue my JD and LLM I'll look into this...not just for the money but to see if its something feasible and at least somewhat enjoyable.

But yeah it'll mostly be about the money :sas2:

If you go to college, consider a degree in computer science. A BS is all you'll need.

Companies who've been clamouring for tons of cheap foreign labor will probably get it with the election being over with.

Some companies are finding out the hard way that its really not cheap.LOL for example since India is in a different time zone, they work while we are sleep. But alot of our batch jobs run over night and the servers are down. So our offshore team just sits ilde with nothing to do. Its part of the reason why we were hiring like crazy last year for onsite .NET developers. I'm talking over 100+ positions.

Edit: forgot to add, with all these companies getting blasted on the news for being hacked, they aren't trusting over seas *as* much now

Peep this thread breh. Read it then read it again.

http://www.thecoli.com/threads/it-certs-and-careers-lets-discuss-it.9043/

We keep trying to tell y'all nikkas bout this IT shyt but y'all not listening. Here's a link to a Hadoop dev job:

http://www.allstate.jobs/ShowJob/Id/326044/Hadoop Developer

Peep the qualifications and pay attention to the bolded:

  • Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • 2-3 years of solid Hadoop experience
  • Familiar with Hadoop tools/languages such as Python, Pig, Hive, Hadoop Streaming, Sqoop, Oozie, etc
  • Solid understanding of MapReduce and how the Hadoop Distributed File System work
  • Good written and verbal skills
  • Understanding of other ETL tools (Ab Initio/Informatica/Talend) is beneficial
  • Understanding of Hadoop Infrastructure is preferable but not required
  • Hands-on experience with related/complementary open source software platforms and languages (e.g. Java, Linux, Apache, Perl/Python/PHP, Chef, Puppet)
  • Understanding of Relational Databases (RDBMS), SQL & No-SQL databases
You don't NEED a degree, just at least 4 years of experience in IT and you only need 2-3 years of Hadoop experience. Let that sink in breh. In less than 4 years you can be making 140k/yr. No degree required. That's why I try to be so public about how much I make and the fact I'm a college dropout. You can eat like a damn mad man in IT if you just stay on your hustle. How many nikkas you know with just a HS diploma can say they made 200k/yr :mjpls:

:ohhh:
