by the way I've also been doing this if anyone wants to learn how to make a website or at least get familiar with the stuff

That was the book I used many years ago. I'm assuming it's still good.

if u get into this because of the money, u will be miserable. u need to love programming to make the kind of money u call "six figures".

a word of advice to many of u current comp sci majors. no, u dont need those bullsh1t math courses they make u take. i repeat, u dont need them.

i originally wanted to major in comp sci but math is not my thing. i would be struggling too hard to get by with just a C-. so i just dropped out. got a degree in liberal arts instead.

read many books at the library on programming. and i've been good.

another word of advice on programming. folks, u neeed to pick 2 programming languages and master them. dont be like a lot of these other folks trying to get their hands into a hundred different things. yeah, u may have "experience" in different technologies, but how well do u know them? can u break them apart and reassemble, without sweating bullets? pick 2 languages, master them and start counting the cash!

Im thinking javascript should be one of them since it's used almost everywhere on the web.

Houston to LA like I'm Robert Horry.
Let's say you are decent with computers and electronics, pretty bright, but know absolutely nothing about "IT" is it feasible to learn this stuff on your own time even working a full-time job?

I'm in Supply Chain now, but it's never a bad idea to have some other skills for a contingency plan :mjpls:

Hell if I knew Sharepoint and SQL, combined that with the job I'm currently doing I could have been making AT LEAST 70K at the company I'm at, at 22 years olds. I need to get in this game :mjcry:

go to the major job searching sites for computer programmers and do a search for a few programming languages. whichever programming languages that come up the most frequently in your searches, pick those. for example, do a search for "java developer" or whatever on, lets say "monster.com", and see how many job postings are out there.

if u really really want me to specify languages for you, try:

ruby, perl, shell programming, python.

if u can master two of these, u will be blessed. and when i say master. i aint talking about simply programming the way the book teaches u. you see, personally, i approach programming a lil differently than most. i chose to program because i'm an extremely lazy individual. and i realized a long time ago the only job i can have where i can sit on my ass all day and still rake in a lot of money is in computers. programming, for me personally, allows me to automate. and what is automation? automation is having a robot (so to speak) do all the work for u while u do NOTHING. and when say i say NOTHING, i really do mean NOTHING. i dont like to read manuals, or documentation or anything. i am extremely lazy. of course u goto write the robot, but again, thats where any 2 of the languages i specified will come in handy. creativity comes in very handy as well.
