There is a tribal group of africans spanning nigeria, cameroon, and locales around that particular region of africa.
Many ados americans share the majority of their genetic ancestry with those people and as result, we share similiar appearance.
If you were to visit that region, you might notice the people there like you could have taken one of your uncles or nephews and wrapped them in their traditional garb, and look pretty much like you belong.

Other regions of africa have different characteristics. Sometimes i look at somalians and wonder if they are half black and half indian for example.

I'm not sure if you are feigning ignorance. but i would consider it to be a bit racist to think that all black people look alike.

Let’s use asian people for an example to make it easier. This is like everytime you see an asian model they look Korean, Chinese, or Japanese, and he is asking why there aren't as many Filipinos or Indians. (south and southeast asians) Eastern Asian Phenotypes shouldn't represent the beauty standard for all of Asia.
Ive been to a couple African countries and lo and behold , people always confidently guess what my ethnicity is. They are always wrong. If you saw me, I can guarantee you would also failed to guess what my ethnicity is. People think they can always guess what someone is but when ask, they can never actually describe what they mean. And if they do they often unwittingly use European race science

Most AAs also have Yoruba and Angolan ancestry, among other things, and this can differ based on region your family is from.

Your response didn’t describe what Igbo features are or answer my other questions.

Sorry, I don't really know how to articulate precisely how people look beyond the most generic traits. (skin color, hair, stuff like that) Its just something i can pick up visually. be like somebody asking me to describe the color red. Can't really explain it to a blind person but i know it when i see it.
and i understand that people can for the most part can also recognize it when they see it. People might have trouble differentiating between igbo and Yoruba according to you, But nobody is going to confuse you with being Korean for example. So that at the very least is fundamental proof that you should be able to acknowledge that ethnic and racial differences in appearance do exist. Unless you are being deliberately obtuse.

I feel like you do see more and more African looking models (whatever that means), which is cool I guess

But breh is saying that the industry is putting folks with pronounced African features in competition with other Black people

I'm willing to bet similar things were said about colorism in the modeling industry, since we've been seeing more models with darker complexions

So as in all industries dominated by non-black people, black folks are reduced to fight amongst themselves for a limited space along the lines traced by the dominant groups :ehh:

I’ve noticed that many white people tend to find certain features more attractive and often choose to date people with those traits, especially African features. I think it's diabolical that because of these preferences, Black people from the diaspora - who are descendants of slaves - have a harder time succeeding in modeling compared to others.

I think they mean:
  • Dark skin
  • Broad noses
  • Broad lips
  • 0% European admixture
Which is ridiculous

Ethipian, Sudanese and Somalian are probably the most present african in the model field and many of them don't have broad lips and broad noses

Was Iman 'very african'?

His comment is just ridiculous, dumb and wrong

This stems from the old and current separitist movement that dictates Black Americans look different, and are unique due to European and supposedly Native American ancestry that continental Africans do not posses..that's what some people carry around as a badge of honor and superiority..European blood!!. :mjpls:
Also explains why the one drop rule is defended so hard.

The whole hairline jibe is a male extension of females good hair racial rankings.

Same shyt really, lets not even pretend:yeshrug:
