Jay Z is important, crucial even, to the franchise for multiple reasons. He's the face, the legitimacy, he's a cultural liaison, etc. Trust that regardless if his stake is small (and 1% of a team translates into more money than many of us will touch in our lifetimes) he will be getting money off the back end (priority with shows for Roc Nation et al., 40/40 placement, etc.)

A mascot who is at the board of directors? Who has the brand he built on the seats? Who is in charge of marketing? Who designs suits and tell nikkas how the shyt should look and what to serve? Who helps landing players? Helps the team move to his damn hood?

He's a minority owner with a lot more power than any other minority owners. No one has ever claimed that he's anything else than a minority owner.
