Jay-Z is really one of the more embarrassing men of his era. He’ll shill for just about anything as long as you give him a dollar, which you would think a ‘billionaire’ would be above doing.

Still a generationally talented rapper but he’s corny as others have stated.

Why?

Jay is a marketer. He's a front man. He shills big business. He sells fire in hell and water to a whale. He pretends to own wine but he didn't know where the damn barrels and the damn grapes were located.

The stuff he owned like Tidal he got finessed. When he owned a very small part of the nets it was a marketing deal to get the team in Brooklyn and be a front man.

Jay ain't a billionaire cause he created a product like a Tesla or an iphone. He's just good at selling a lifestyle to a black demographic and pop culture at large.

Exactly my sentiments too.

I know all his music back to front.

Doesn't mean he's not corny to the core.

He has developed cult of personality to a high degree, mainly garnered from shrewd marketing and business acumen, and a bit of luck along the way.

It has rendered his detractors as 'haters' and any criticism, valid or not, is labelled as jealousy or not understanding his genius.

But strip back the layers and there's a lot of questionable output, behaviour and posturing.
