The label deals, and none of those RR Vol. 3 and 4 recouped, none of the other artists besides Eve, did either. They didn't even put anyone else out. Huge album budgets for modest sales for X albums post 1999.

i think it was mainly the OG def jam acts being put on back burner for the newer acts (plus remember LA Reid was over there too and that brought the focus on R&B acts more too). If I remember correctly I think Ghost, Red and X all had release dates in the 4th quarter at the same damn time or within weeks of each other so they didnt really get the focus like they use to (remember the month of man campaign). I understand X feeling a way given their history, the fact the pool hall battle was never decisive and cuz Hov said “the inmates running the yard”...which was wrong for him to say but I get it if he was caught up in the moment
